Nope, that's not the sound of the stock market crashing (I try to be positive over here), it's these awesome images I found on flickr of a F/18 fighter jet as it nears the sound barrier. I've seen images like this before, but none of this rainbow effect in the compression wave. Outstanding picture!

A Brief Return of Summer

Who knew summer was coming back to Seattle!? On Sunday Nick and I headed downtown to walk around and enjoy the weekend of summer bonus and get his iphone, which he loves and so do I! But I know if I get one I will never be able to put it down.

We ended up at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for happy hour it's on my recommendation list. If you go there I recommend the margarita flatbread pizza. So good, I'm going to try to recreate it!

Another Husky loss to Stanford

Another game, another loss for the Huskies. We are now 0-3 and our quarterback, Jake Locker, has a broken thumb so the rest of the season isn't looking so good.

We still had a good time tailgating with Nick's friends, met up with our friends and newlyweds Emi and Kyle and had fun being back in Husky Stadium, an oldie but a goodie!

Fading Summer

It's officially fall and the signs of summer are fading fast, but I do love the crisp fall air and the changing of the colors. Happy Friday everyone!

Autumn ride

Happy first day of fall everyone! Time for shorter days and hearty cooking. It was a great summer, but I'm looking forward to pulling out my sweaters and enjoying the fall.

Seahawks roll over Rams

It was a great day in Hawkville! Julian Jones had some amazing plays helped lead us to the win. You can tell that Hasselbeck is really starting to connect with the new wide receivers and of course he was able to make those great passes with the help of the fantastic offensive line and our favorite Seahawk Mike Wahle! See you in New York!

Ashley and Todd's wedding

On Saturday I went to the wedding of my friend Ashley. We not only went to high school together, but were in the same sorority! So our friendship goes back quite a ways. The ceremony was held at the Kilworth Chapel at the University of Puget Sound and the reception was at Lakewold Gardens.

Lakewold is a stunning setting on Gravelly Lake and dates back to the early 1900s when it was owned and maintained by a master gardener and now it continues to be enjoyed by events such as wedding and luncheons.

I felt like I was in the Secret Garden and loved overlooking the lovely gardens and lake throughout the evening. Ashley has been a wonderful friend throughout the years and I am so happy for her and Todd and their new life together!

Prayer Flags

My brother took this picture of our prayer flags we have hanging up at our cabin that my parents got in Nepal.

Prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom and the colors symbolize:

• Blue (symbolizing sky/space)
• White (symbolizing air/wind)
• Red (symbolizing fire)
• Green (symbolizing water)
• Yellow (symbolizing earth)

Homekeeping Handbook Bible

This really is one of my favorite books that I use the most often, for anyone who is taking care of a home, this will become your best friend. I've used it for over two years and found a great new tip yesterday in it! To clean badly burned pans, simply fill the pan with cold water and salt, soak overnight, then slowly boil the next morning and the burns are gone. Martha to the rescue!
