My friend Sarah told me about these neighborhood maps this artist does, and I just think they are so cool! They have them for various cities and the Seattle one just came out. Check out their site for other cities.
Today really is a good Friday! My friend Brooke found the recipe for the best cupcakes ever - Magnolia Bakery! When Nick and I were in NYC in May, we waited in the line that went around the corner to have these cupcakes and they were so amazing! The frosting is out of this world! The bakery was made famous by Sex And The City, but they really do live up to all the hype. I am so excited to make them!!!
I can't get over how lucky we have been so far this autumn here in Seattle. Hardly any rain or wind, which means all of beautiful gold leaves are still on the trees for us to enjoy. It looks like it's going to be another great crisp, sunny weekend so I hope you all enjoy it!
Last night Meghan and I decided to do a little "calorie splurge" and made this amazing macaroni and cheese by Martha. I guess that just means I'll have to work out extra hard this morning at the gym (especially since Maui is in 10 days!)
Tonight's Oprah featured Dr. Oz and guest Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a neurologist who fully recovered after a stroke in her left hemisphere. I learned about her earlier this year when she was a speaker at the 2008 Ted Conference. Her story is so inspiring about her 8 year recovery, the help of her mom and also the expiernce and happiness of being able to focus completely on the feeling of the present moment (by not having any function in the left part of her brain). Definetly check her amazing story out! image: Oprah
On Sunday I took my first trip ever to a pumpkin patch! Our friend Michelle is the planner of the group and she got us all together to head out of Seattle and into the farm land to pick out pumpkins and finished off the afternoon with Starbucks pumpkin spice lattes (and a caramel apple cider for me!)
On Friday my best friend and roommate had her 25th birthday party, a Blackout theme! Everyone wore black and it was held at the Sole Repair in Capitol Hill. We had a blast and stayed out way too late but all in good fun! Definitely a great way to kick off 25!
I adore Reese Witherspoon! She is not only a talented actress, but so classically beautiful. I loved this Paris photo shoot for the latest issue of Vogue. How I would love to be in Paris in those clothes!
After hearing raves about the restaurant Voleterra, Meghan, Brynn, Katy and I headed over to take Meghan out for her 25th birthday!
Volterra is a cute Italian restaurant tucked away in old Ballard and it was so delicious! We started off with a couple of appetizers, a polenta dish and a cheese platter and three of us ordered the same entree: homemade organic wide noodles with a pesto creme sauce and shrimp. Yum yum!!
Thank you so much to my work colleague Dean for sharing these wonderful images that he took over the weekend at the Japanese Garden in the Washington Park Arboretum. Autumn is certainly here in Seattle!
Last weekend, I headed off to Vegas with my friends Erin and Andrea for a nice weekend getaway. We had a blast going out and lucked out with perfect weather so got to lay by the pools all during the day. Some of my favorite places were Tao Nightclub, Wet Republic at the MGM and the lazy river at the MGM, I could have done that lazy river all day. We had a great time and I am ready to go back! Here are a few pictures!
