French onion soup

I am so lucky to have friends who are amazing cooks! And even more lucky that they invite me over for dinner!

The other day Meghan had Brynn, Megan and me over for dinner and made us French onion soup. It has been rainy and gross here in Seattle this week, so it was wonderful to curl up on Meghan's comfy couch with a delicious bowl of homemade soup.

Thanks Meghan!

81st Academy Awards

I believe this was my favorite Academy Awards in recent memory. I thought the format was great, especially when they had all the previous winners up on stage.

Most of all, I thought everyone (especially the women) looked amazing! It was hard for me to narrow it down as much as I tried to below.

Saturday skiing

After Nick's flight got in from Portland, we drove up to my cabin for a day of skiing. The cabin is about 20 minutes away from Crystal mountain, so we get to sleep in a little bit and still make it up to the mountain before the lifts open.

For a Saturday, the crowds really weren't that bad and we got a pretty good day in, 8:30 start and 2:00 p.m. finish. Since Nick is still learning, I did some runs just with my dad that were a little more challenging but also did some runs with Nick.

We had great weather and it was nice to be up in the mountains again.

High School Musical

I now see what all the hype is about! Meghan and Brynn came over for dinner and an HSM viewing. I have seen HSM2 twice now, but am going through in order with the girls.

We felt like we were 17 again!! If you haven't seen it, give it a chance - it was actually really good!

The Godfather wars

"Leave the gun, take the cannoli"

In my family, nothing tops The Godfather. I grew up watching the movies and listening to my dad quoting them. And since my dad is 100% Sicilian, why would it be any other way?!

When my parents and I went to Sicily, we actually went to the opera house and did a tour where the end of the third Godfather takes place.

Vanity Fair recently did a very entertaining article on the making of the 1971 classic and it's a must read for any fan - dad!!

Kittens inspired by kittens

Brynn and her sister Megan found this video yesterday and it is so random, but cracks me up! It even made it on one of my favorite shows, The Soup!

Congratulations to Stump, the 10-year-old Sussex spaniel who was been named Best in Show at the 133rd annual Westminster Kennel Club dog show!

However, my heart is still with last year's winner, Uno the beautiful beagle!

Baked penne with roasted vegetables

Giada does it again! I am trying to eat more vegetables and this recipe did the trick! I actually doubled all the vegetables so it was even more healthy (and cut out the butter on top).

Delayed Weekend Update

It's been a very busy week so far and my poor blog has been neglected! Time to catch up!

On Saturday I went out with some of his friend's for a birthday party but didn't stay out very late because the SuperBowl was the next day! I watched it was a group of about 20 of Nick's friends, and they even let me switch it over to the Puppy Bowl for a bit!
