Wishful Wednesday: pet talk

I am playing along with Kelsey at The Seattle Smith's for her Wishful Wednesday, and this week's question is:

'I wish' .... My pet could talk because I have been dying to know...why Missy must always sleep on my face in the morning while I am trying to sleep!

The date is off on the pictue, but this is Missy on Christmas morning, a little sleepy

So Missy doesn't live with me, she is my parent's cat, but ever since she was a kitten, bright and early she would come in my room and decide to plop herself right on my face and purr like a machine. I am glad it makes her so happy, but I would love to know why she feels this is necessary.

Hope everyone has a wonderful fall weekend!

Yesterday I was reading Smile Steady's blog and I have something in common, we have both recently got into LOST! I remember when it first started and all my friends were talking about it and it just sounded ridiculous and I said I would never watch it.

Flash forward to the present and the perfect recipe of Netflix instant view on the xbox and a rainy day and I got hooked! Nick and I finished the first season and are about to get into the second season, I can hardly wait! Now I understand what everyone has been talking about for the past five years!

I wish I got paid $1 million a year to....

I am playing along with Kelsey from The Seattle Smith's "Wishful Wednesday" series, and this week's post is:

'I wish' .... I got paid $1 million a year to ____!

And my fill in the blank is "be a host on the travel channel!"

I mean how did Samantha Brown land her jobl?! She get to go all over the world, stay in awesome hotels, and get paid to do it, I am so insanely jealous! And I'd totally strike her a deal, I'd work for half price! :)

Hop on over to Kelsey's site if you want to play along too!

We had a great weekend here in Seattle! The best news was that my beloved school, the University of Washington Huskies beat USC in football, and they were ranked #3!! We had a horrible season last year, so this big win really has charged us up again and I can't wait for the rest of the season!

To celebrate the big win, that night Nick and I met up with a group of friends at Fremont's Oktoberfest. You buy tokens and then go from tent to tent tasting different types of beers. It was a total blast and had lots of good and unique beers (has anyone ever heard of watermelon beer before?! Think a watermelon jolly rancher with a beer aftertaste). So much fun!

And tonight, I met up with my cousin Lauren (she actually isn't my first cousin, but in a huge Italian family like mine, we don't distinguish first cousins from third cousins, it's all just in the "cousins" umbrella otherwise things get way too confusing), who was in Seattle on a stop-over from her many travels. We haven't seen each other in so long, but keep in touch via facebook and blogs, so it was great to see her in person and catch up.

France in November!

It's official, Nick and I are headed to France for 10 days at the beginning of November!!! Eeeek!! I can't wait to see all the beautiful sites, visit museums and sit at cafes and eat wonderful food. We will fly in and out of Paris, and will spend most of the time there since there is so much I want to see, but have a totally open agenda to do whatever and go wherever we want to explore The City of Lights and beyond.

I can hardly stand how excited I am and need to start brushing up on my French!

Shape Collage

A couple of people were asking how I did the collages from my last post and I did it with a free program called Shape Collage. You have to download it to your computer, but I haven't had any problems (I know there is always a risk downloading free software - I am marrying a software design engineer).

It was really easy to use and since I take so many pictures, this is a great way for me to condense them all.

Carrie's bachelorette weekend in Las Vegas

the full ADPi group in the sorority pose

I am back and fully recovered after a wonderful weekend in Vegas with my sorority girlfriends! After work on Thursday, I met up with Erin, Jessica, Ashley and Carrie (the bachelorette) and we flew into Vegas and got in at 9:30 p.m. and checked into the MGM.

Tara and Marissa were already there as well as Carrie's sister Megan and we all got ready and went out to Tao at the Venetian.

Friday we did pool time and the awesome lazy river and then our whole group of 20 was all in and we did a big dinner at Society restaurant at the Encore Hotel (part of the Wynn) and then went out to Tryst, also at the Wynn.

Saturday was more relaxing at the pool and then we did the official bachelorette party and gifts and went out to Body English at the Hard Rock.
Overall it was such a great weekend and its always fun to get the ADPi group together! And now Carrie's wedding is less than a month away! Woohoo!

Las Vegas for the weekend

(1/3 of the group at the cheese and wine festival this past spring,
the bachelorette is the lovely blonde in the blue shirt)

I'm signing off early for the weekend since right after work, I'll be hopping in a limo to the airport to heading to Las Vegas with 20 other friends for Carrie's bachelorette party! I can't wait!!!
(Erin and I floating the lazy river last year)

We'll be staying at the MGM Grand and since it's 100 degrees there right now, I'll be floating in their lazy river all day and hanging out at Wet Republic (an awesome pool at the hotel) with plenty of sunscreen!

(last year at Wet Republic, love this pool)

No gambling for me though (I have never gambled and don't plan on it)! :)

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

The rest of Labor Day weekend

Saturday marked the opening of UW football and I could not be more excited about it! I love college football and even though our poor Huskies had a rough season last year, I am really pulling for us this year!

Our Saturday we played LSU (and sadly lost, not a surprise) and even though is was a 7:30 p.m. game, that did not stop Nick's friends from starting the tailgate at 7:30 a.m.! They are hardcore Husky fans!

I have to say, Nick's friends put on an amazing tailgate, complete with Nolan's parents RV or his navigator, towing a "stage" for the BBQ and stereo system. They've also got an open air tent and beer pong table, decorated with jerseys!

Scott and his little bro playing beer pong (love the expression on Scott's face)

Nick and I didn't go to the game, but had a blast tailgating for it and hanging out with everyone. Can't wait for the rest of the season!

Sunday and Monday were both low key days, but on Monday my parents and brother came up to Seattle and took Nick and I out for dim sum, my fave! I seriously could eat dim sum once a week, I love it!

And, I started watching season 1 of LOST and am so sucked in! I mean what is up with this island?!?!

I love three-day weekends!

Merrilee and Mike's wedding

On Friday, Nick and I went to the lovely wedding of our friends Merrilee and Mike. Merrilee was in my sorority and a year above me and is such a wonderful sweet person as is Mike. I'm so happy for them both!

Here are some pictures from their big day!

Walking down the aisle in the rose garden, Merrilee looked stunning...

Pictures with the ADPi crew...

Speeches and yummy cake...

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Tomorrow I'll post about the rest of the weekend!

Happy long weekend

I can't believe the end of summer is here! How did that happen?

At least we have a long weekend! Tonight Nick and I are going to the wedding of our friend's Mike and Merrilee. And the ceremony is taking place in a rose garden so it should be lovely. And the rest of the weekend is still TBD...

Have a wonderful weekend!

After work last night I met up with my friend Emi to talk weddings then went over to Meghan's to pick up a dress from her.

I of course plopped right on the couch making myself at home and watched the pilot episode television show "Glee" with her. Have you guys heard of it? It was fantastic, I had never heard of it and never would have watched it on my own. Meghan said it has received great reviews and I see why. It's like a non-Disney/non-cheesy High-School Musical, and you know I love HSM!

Listen to their fun version of of Don't Stop Believin'. Unfortunately there is no video with it, so you'll just have to check out the show on Fox (its rerunning on Friday - set your DVRs)!

Rachel Zoe Project

Okay, what planet have I been living on the past year and why didn't they have Bravo?! Seriously I just discovered the Rachel Zoe Project and I am so obsessed! Seriously she is so fantastic, crazy and brilliant! I mean "Anne has never had a navy moment." How perfect is that!! I want a navy moment! I am so glad everyone blogged about it so that I finally set my DVR. I love you Bravo.

Roasted Shrimp and Orzo

I have a wonderful recipe to share that is perfect for summer (or what's left of it). Brynn made this Barefoot Contessa recipe a few months ago and a few days ago I tried it myself. So delicious, light and healthy and super, super easy! There is hardly any cooking, just assembling of things. This picture doesn't do it justice, so you'll just have to take my word for it a try it. I promise you wont be disappointed!

On another note, kind of ironic that yesterday I posted about how I like to be organized and make lists and it was less than an hour later that I realized I had left my wallet in Nick's car, which was now at airport parking (he leaves Monday morning around 6 a.m.) until Thursday evening! Smooth move Carol...

Luckily he valet parks his car, so the lot had his keys and he just made a quick call to them and I made the careful drive (driving without a license, not fun!) down to the airport and they had the car ready for me with my wallet! Thank goodness!

Not my brightest moment, I guess I need to make more lists!
