2010 Goals

1) Cook more fish (specifically salmon)
Its so healthy and I live in the Pacific Northwest where we have great, fresh seafood. I need to get over my fear of overcooking it and just go for it.

2) Travel somewhere new
No location in mind yet, but I'm thinking of making this a goal for every year. It doesn't have to be anywhere fancy or exotic and expensive, just a new place to explore.

3) Continue eating locally, sustainably and seasonably
In 2009 I really dove into the writings and teachings of people such as Michael Pollan and documentaries such as Food, Inc. and King Corn and I want to continue eating this way. I'm really trying to be aware of the foods go into my body the effect it has on the economy and especially the environment.

4) Take up a new hobby, such learning to knit
I've always wanted to learn how to knit, and what better time than the present!
5) Stretch more
I am going to start ending my workout 5 minutes early to get a good post-workout stretch in. Specifically a calf stretch.

I love the traveling somewhere new idea!!! I feel like there are just too many places that I have never seen that I want to see! That's a great one! If you end up traveling down south I can tell you some cool places to go! :)

I love your goals! They are similar to mine! I go somewhere new every year, and am looking into learning a craft, since I know how to knit! :)

Great goals! I'm sure you'll get over your fear of overcooking fish in no time! I cook fish a lot but unfortunately I don't like salmon. Hubby loves it and I see so many recipes for it that look amazing, but I just can't see to acquire a taste for it. So I'm jealous of people that like it...lol!

I wish I could cook salmon. I love it, but Nick is not a fan unless we are eating sushi and it is raw. I don't like it overcooked either - but I think it's good no matter what!

When you bake salmon or other similar fish, go about 350-375 degrees and anticipate about 8-9 minutes per inch it is thick. Same rules for cooking on foil inside a hot BBQ with the lid down. Pan searing is a little trickier....

I'm gonna steal your number 4, (been thinkin baout it for awhile!) even though it seems so old maidish, wth it will be quite useful i think!! first scarves, then dog sweaters. count me in!! i'll let you know how it goes, since im notoriously bad with the whole "goals" thing ;)

Traveling has to be one of my favorite things. I can't wait to go somewhere new this year.

Fish isn't so hard to cook - you'll get the hang of it quickly, I'm sure, especially with all the fresh fish you have locally.

Very cute blog - you've got a new follower!

Haha - I do stuff like this all the time - not realize that I'm already following someone & try to follow them. :)

The word verification that I have for this comment explains this well - dorki!

I think your goals are great because they're all realistically things you can accomplish. And learning to knit is a lot of fun, but I'm terrible at it--I made some lumpy scarves a few years back but I've yet to progress to a level of making fun things like hats and mittens.

Kniting is really fun actually...I used to be pretty into it. As weird as that sounds. Although all I could make was scarves. I kinda want to start again and learn to make other things!

Did you know you can cook salmon in the dishwasher?
If you are already going to running the dishwasher its an easy way to cook dinner at the same time!
Here is a recipe I found on the Food Network
