My farm box

Today I got my first delivery of my weekly CSA (community-supported agriculture) box! It is a box full of organic fruits and vegetables that come from a local farm called Full Circle Farm.

One of my 2010 goals was to eat locally and sustainably, and this is a perfect way to do it. I love going to our Saturday farmers market, but sometimes its hard to fit into my morning schedule. This CSA box is packaged and delivered to a fitness center literally right down the street from me, so convenient!

I'm so excited to cook and enjoy all my lovely organic produce and to experiment with my cooking and foods I've never even heard of before (I had to Bing what a "sun choke" was!)
My favorite author and food activist Michael Pollan would be proud!

I used to get a box from Full Circle Farm, but I stopped because as a single lady I just couldn't eat all the tasty veggies before they went bad - which is saying a lot. This girl loves her veggies. But now that I'm in a relationship, living with my honey, we'll probably start up again. It's SO fun to get that box full of pure, fresh goodness. It will also make you branch out of the everyday veggies and explore some new stuff. Enjoy!

I keep thinking about doing that but I know I wouldn't eat everything before it went bad.
I love sunchokes. I love them in salads or just to snack on!

I have a friend who uses them and is always trying to get me to hop on board. Since I can't get my boyfriend to eat veggies, I would be the only partaker and fear that most would go to waste since I wouldn't be able to scarf the stuff down fast enough. Oh, and I've never heard of a sun choke either. How are they??

Yay! Good for you, that box of veggies looks amazing. I really need to join a co-op. It will force me to diversify the vegetable dishes I serve.
