Europe 2011 day 5: Split, Croatia

After our first night at sea (we slept awesome - the light rocking of the ship put us to sleep in a snap) our first stop was Split, Croatia.

Good morning Croatia

Our first stop to the city was Diocletian's Palace - the home of an ancient Roman Emperor.

After that we climbed a Bell Town in the Palace that gave us some great views of the water and city.

view from the belltower

We then walked around the center of town, including the large outdoor market

Rick Steves mentioned a hill nearby that had good views of the city so we climbed a lot of stairs to get there but the view was well worth it

After our impromptu hike we made our way to a little restaurant and had an excellent lunch of fresh seafood (fish and grilled calamari) and then strolled around the town's center

We ended the day on the ship with a relaxing lay by the pool, delicious dinner and got a great view of Split as we sailed off

 Goodbye to Split!

That's a great picture of you in the blue dress between the columns.

Looks like another beautiful city. The other dentist who works with Nick went to Croatia last year and loved it.
