Summer week

Hi friends!  Things are hot, hot, hot here in Seattle!  The temps today are supposed to reach 94!  Hottest day of the summer!

Earlier this week my dad took Nick, Mike (my brother) and me to our first concert in the park of the summer!  It was held at the Woodland Park Zoo and the band was Pink Martini!  They are from the Portland area and do a mix of classical/jazz music.  It was fun to see them live and sit out on the grass during a nice summer day.

And then last night I got to hang out with two of my friends and fellow bloggers - Michelle and Carrie!  We had a great summer dinner on Michelle's deck and enjoyed a warm evening catching up!

Weekend update

Thanks all for the comments and tips about our upcoming trip!  I am accepting all travel tips for Germany, Austria and Switzerland!

I have so much to catch up on this summer - weddings, weekends and everything in between!  So I'll start with this upcoming weekend.  On Saturday Nick and I hit the hills around Seattle and went hiking to Rattlesnake Ledge, about 50 minutes outside of Seattle.  The hike was about 2.5 hours in total, including a little lunch break at the top.

Later that evening we went to West Seattle for a birthday party for our friend Sam and his sister, held at their aunt and uncle's house.  Check out the amazing views we enjoyed from the host's house.

Sunday was a relaxing day with my friend Courtney - we walked around the golf course and then laid out at the country club pool all afternoon.  Courtney is a medical school resident so she posted this picture on facebook with the caption: "A little education at the pool! Guess which one is carol's :)"  Her version of pool reading is American Medical News, mine is US Weekly!

Europe in September

Thank you all for the kind anniversary notes!  We had a lovely dinner at Kingfish Cafe and talked about some exciting stuff coming up for us - a return to Europe and discovering some new places!

Last September Nick and I did a trip through Amsterdam, Venice, Croatia and Greece; this September we are doing something a little different but equally exciting - Switzerland, Germany and Austria!

We will start in Zurich, Switzerland

Head to Lucerne (Luzerne), Switzerland

Spend some time in the Berner Oberland area of Switzerland (exact town TBD)/Interlaken and travel to the Jungfraujoch (Matt Lauer has a cool clip of the area from his 2011 Where In The World... segment)

Head over to Munich, Germany

Day to visit the Neuschwanstein (Cinderella's castle), Germany

Travel to Salzburg (do the Sound Of Music Tour - eeekkk!!!), Austria

Spend some time in Hallstatt, Austria

And end the trip in Vienna, Austria

We only recently booked this trip and still have lots of planning to do so any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!
