Southeast Asia 201 Days 1 & 2: traveling to Thailand

In my quest to get caught up on travel posts - I'm now venturing to our three-week trip to Southeast Asia in September of 2013, Thailand and Cambodia!

The first post is just a quick entry about our journey to the other side of the world.  The first leg of our flight (Sept. 6 and 7, 2013) was a 10 hour flight from Seattle to Tokyo and had a small layover there. Whenever we travel through multiple time zones, we try to readjust right away to our new destination's schedule.  So we stayed awake during our layover and walked around the Narita International Airport and used their free wifi.

Pretty origami for jet-lagged travelers

The next leg of our flight was Tokyo to Bangkok which was about 6.5 hours.  We arrived at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok at about 11 p.m., at this point I was so disoriented after a 20 hour travel day, I didn't know what was up or down.  But so excited that we finally made it to Thailand and that our trip was about to begin!

We went through customs and immigration and then found a sign for the car to our hotel. There are a lot hotels surrounding the Bangkok airport (it's one of the busiest airports in Asia) so finding somewhere to sleep close to the hotel (we were going to be on a flight the next morning) was no problem.  Our hotel was about a 10 minute drive from the airport, after a quick check in at the hotel, we emailed our parents to let them know we had safely arrived, we passed out!

After a great sleep, we woke up, grabbed breakfast and were back to the airport!  Our trip was about to fully being, next stop - Siem Reap, Cambodia!

Woodinville wine tasting Saturday

About 30 minutes northeast of Seattle there is a city called Woodinville that has a ton of tasting rooms for Washington wineries.

For a fun Saturday, some friends and I rented a party bus and spent the day wine tasting!  Sunny Saturday + friends + wine tasting = a good Saturday!

On Friday, we hit up a great restaurant I would recommend to anyone in the Seattle area - Westward.  They have a fantastic outdoor seating area and the view is amazing.  We were there for a quite a while and once the sun went down it got a little chilly, so they bring you out blankets!

April and May catch-up

Spring has been great here in Seattle!  Catching up on what's been going on this spring so far

We went to a great baby shower for our friends Hunt and Holly, we all coordinated outfits without even planning it!

Loving all the beautiful flowers that comes with spring

And outdoor happy hours

Over Memorial Weekend we took a day trip to Bainbridge Island with our friends Meghan, David and Brynn.  It's a pretty ferry ride from Seattle and we had a delicious breakfast at Cafe Nola (a favorite of Giada and Martha!) and then did some wine tasting. The lower right picture is Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's wine - it was really good!

I went to a Breakfast At Tiffany's themed bridal shower for my friend Brittney.  They even had a photo-booth where you could take pictures with Audrey (one of my icons)

Our friend Cat is heading off on her ER Residency program so her family hosted a paella party at their house.  It was such a fun experience and Nick and I even got in on helping to make he paella, there we are browning the chicken and enjoying some sweet tea.  Check out those giant pans!

I did my first painting class with some friends - not bad, right?!

And two Mariner's baseball games so far.  We always buy the cheap seats and then watch the game from the beer garden.

And continuing to love this beautiful weather we've been having

Hope everyone is having a great spring so far too!
